Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Two months back, I started feeling very uneasy in my stomach with sudden pain and pain in my left shoulder blade. I went to an ED and my ECG was normal but my abdomen sonography showed a gallstone. The doctor gave me painkillers and diet to follow but there was no improvement. Whenever I eat, I used to feel gassy and uneasy again. I consulted a stomach doctor and he gave me 10 days treatment for H.pylori, and it did improve for two months with no issues. But suddenly three days back, I get the same uneasy feeling, shoulder pain, and burning sensation in the tummy. What should I do?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Well, I assume that the current gastrointestinal upset are secondary to the foods that you have. Did you take a significant amount of red meat, and any desserts or sweets?
You see it is not uncommon to have gastrointestinal upsets like gas, bloating, and sometimes altered bowel habits after one has change in the routine of diet secondary to whatever reason.
I suggest you to take capsule Esomeprazole 40 mg (proton pump inhibitors) half an hour before breakfast daily for two weeks. If your symptoms do not improve within three days of use of this medication. Let me know, I may add additional medicines to solve your problem.
Also, try to avoid milk, and milk-based things such as sweets, coffee and tea. Avoid high carbohydrate meals, high-fat diets, and deep-fried things. Avoid sugar as well.
I can see you a bit overweight, for which you should start acting now. Try to reduce weight by 10% of your current body weight by coming six months. I also write some routine testing below, kindly get it done, and let me know the reports once they are available.
The recurrent bloating and gas can be linked to underlying silent diabetes, cholesterol, and thyroid issues, that is why suggesting those investigations. The gas and bloating you mention does not seem to be associated with gall stones.
