Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 34-year-old female and I have severe stomach ache. I ate spicy food yesterday, but nothing like this has ever happened to me before. I have a continuous need to use the restroom, and I also have nausea and vomiting. I am unable to eat anything. Should I consult a doctor or can it be treated with any remedy? I have hypothyroidism. The TSH value is 9 mIU/L. Are my symptoms due to food poison? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am here to provide expert opinion on your medical issues.

Experiencing an upset stomach after eating spicy food outside can be due to food poisoning or gastritis. For this, you should give some rest to your stomach. I suggest you take soft, non-spicy, and home-cooked meals. Avoid eating out or eating reheated meals. Take probiotics like yogurt daily or commercially available probiotics can be taken as well. For stomach acidity, acid suppression medicine like the tablet Pantoprazole, 40 mg can be taken half an hour before breakfast for five to seven days.

The tablet Domperidone 10 mg is an anti-vomiting medicine that can be taken once or twice a day in case of persistent vomiting. Antacid syrup like sodium alginate (Gaviscon) 10 ml can be taken after meals. You can start with this simple medical management, and you will improve within a day or two. In case of persistent symptoms, you can visit a doctor nearby.

I wish you good health.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
