Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with some gnarly pain in my stomach, and someone mentioned it could be related to gallstones. I am not exactly sure what those are or how they connect with lipids and cholesterol. Can you break it down for me? What is the deal with gallstones, and how do lipids and cholesterol play a role in all this stomach pain? Any insights would be a huge help right now.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

1) There are two different issues. Stomach problems can directly be related to gastritis or dyspepsia which usually responds to simple antacid syrup like Gaviscon post meals and in persistent symptoms, acid suppression medicine like Pantoprazole half an hour before breakfast can be used for five days.

2) The commonest form of gallstones is formed by a cholesterol and calcium combination. The simplest means of diagnosis is an ultra abdomen to see the size and number of gallstones.

3) Clinically gall stones are divided into two types, symptomatic gallstones and asymptomatic gallstones.

4) Symptomatic gallstones mean nausea, vomiting, right upper abdominal pain, jaundice, or fever. An ultrasound is suggested for an inflamed gall bladder due to stones or obstruction of bile ducts.

5) Asymptomatic stones mean no symptoms. Gall stones are just an incidental finding of routine ultrasound evaluation.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
