Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing intense hair fall issues. A week ago, I tried this homemade hair mask which contained yogurt, lemon, and honey. Since then, I have been losing hair in clumps. I run my fingers through my hair, and so many strands follow. When I wash my hair, it becomes incredibly tangled, and I lose more hair. I have already lost a lot of hair volume. How can this be stopped? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

I would like you to go through the below mentioned facts about hair fall issues.

1. 100 to 150 hair fall every day is normal. It should be considered as hair fall, if the number of hair is more than this.

2. Generalized hair fall in females is mostly due to stress, poor sleep, poor nutrition and excessive blood loss due to menstruation.

3. Stress alopecia (hair loss) is also common in which females keep their hair very tight in a manner creating tension in the root and causing hair fall.

4. Straightening and other procedures also cause weakness of the hair root.

5. Other conditions like fever, typhoid, malaria, thyroid, also cause hair fall (less common)

I suggest you follow the below mentioned instructions:

1. Have good sleep and consume proper food including green vegetables and fruits.

2. Take iron and multivitamins like tablet Follihair (Biotin) at least for three months.

3. Check your blood hemoglobin levels. If the levels are less, iron and folic acid supplements should be started.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
