Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am really worried about my wife. She is feeling very stressed, and I do not know how to help her. She works in a marketing firm and puts all the workload in her head. And she shows this to the kids and me in a rude way. I understand her mind, but the kids are small; they do not understand that. How does too much stress affect someone's mind? What can she do to feel better and manage stress? Please advise me on how to help her; it would be very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern about your wife. Your wife may have sleep and appetite issues due to stress. She may also have short-time forgetfulness, headaches, and easy irritability. For a long time- she may have obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, and hypertension. She should try to follow the below lifestyle changes to deal with her stress.

  1. She should exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes, at least going for a walk.

  2. She should do meditation for 20 minutes daily, just sit in one place in a comfortable position, and try to concentrate on her normal breathing. Do not stop or force herself to stop her thoughts; just let it be.

  3. She should eat healthy, home-cooked foods, and avoid junk foods.

  4. She must drink enough water.

  5. She should spend quality time with friends and family daily.

  6. She should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.

  7. She should get seven to eight hours of sleep daily.

  8. She must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.

  9. Give her a reason to live her life and not just spend it.

I hope that you get your answer.

    Thank you.
