Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Could my extreme reactions to disruptions in order, such as my son not following instructions or the misplacement of items, be indicative of obsessive-compulsive tendencies? How can I manage these reactions to prevent outbursts and reduce the guilt that I experience afterward? This has been happening to me in recent years. How to deal with this? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am here to provide expert opinion on your medical issues.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your problem, but you may not have obsessive-compulsive tendencies though it is difficult to say from the above details. But you have stress and anger outbursts. I suggest you try the below-mentioned lifestyle changes:

  1. You should exercise daily for 30 to 45 minutes like at least going for a walk.

  2. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Do not stop or force yourself to stop your thoughts. Just let it be.

  3. You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.

  4. You must drink enough water.

  5. You should spend quality time with friends and family members daily.

  6. You should spend time doing creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills or language or musical instruments.

  7. You should sleep for seven to eight hours daily.

  8. You must avoid tobacco usage, alcohol consumption, or any type of substance abuse.

Live your life. Do not just spend it. Be bold and confident.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you want any further help.

Thank you.
