Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I always feel suicidal. Now I am 23-year-old. I have had certain losses in my life, and everything happened within two years. I lost my pet dog, my friends, my girlfriend, and my job. Only my parents are still supportive. Since then, I feel like quitting everything now for once and all. I believe my life is in my hand, and I can do anything without it; no one can stop me from doing anything. But I also wish to live; since my childhood, I have always wanted to be a successful person, but these recent losses have demotivated me to the extent that I want to end my life. I do not do drugs, alcohol, or cigarette. Because I do not even have the interest to do dat. I want to live at the same I do not want to; I am confused. Let me know how I can come out of this confused state. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for taking help from a psychiatrist. I can understand your situation. You may have a major depressive disorder. There is non-pharmacological management for it; you should follow the guidelines below to deal with it. It will help you.

You should do exercises daily for 30 - 45 minutes, like at least going for a walk. If possible, join the gym or swim; it will boost your confidence in yourself. You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily, sit at one place in a comfortable position and try to concentrate on your normal breathing, do not stop or force yourself to control your thoughts; just let it be. It will help you to relax. It will help you reduce your confusion. I also suggest you do the following.

1) You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods.

2) You must drink enough water.

3) You should spend quality time with friends and family daily or do video calls if you live away from your family.

4) You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new language skills or musical instruments.

5) You should take enough 7 to 8 hours of sleep daily.

6) You must avoid tobacco or alcohol or any substance abuse.

Live your life, do not just spend it. Be bold and confident. Do not be afraid of anyone, and stop overthinking. Suicide is not the solution, but every problem has one solution. You need to put can not on yourself to get success in life. If you still have symptoms that persist after following the advice for 4 to 6 weeks, then you need to start medications for a short duration. I hope that you get your answer.

Please, let me know if you want some help.

Thank you.
