Can axillary lymph node swelling occur due to shaving?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a lump under my arm. I do shave, but I am unsure if it is from shaving or a lymph node. First, it was rubbery and tender on both armpits. Now, it is dark in color and fading, does not hurt anymore, and is not tender to touch. I have had it for a week.

Hello, Welcome to icliniq.com.

In the axillary region, it is common in a lot of populations to see such a lump. There is no problem in shaving. I suggest you consult a doctor and take the following medications with his or her consent. Tablet Augmentin 625 duo (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid) three times a day after food for five days. Tablet Zerodol-SP (Aceclofenac, Paracetamol, and Serratiopeptidase) three times a day after food for five days. Give fomentation with hot salt in a handkerchief; make it round by tying four corners. The lump may either reduces, vanish, or may burst out.
