Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I fell during my netball game last week, and my ankle cracked and became swollen. So I went to the hospital and had an X-ray done. They did not examine me because they thought my ankle was not fractured. But today I cannot move my foot as it is swollen, and I also noticed discoloration in the foot. What could be the reason?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

This is an ankle sprain. I suggest you to follow a few instructions mentioned below.

  1. Keep the leg elevated.
  2. Use ankle stirrup brace.
  3. Apply ice pack thrice daily for two days.
  4. Take tablet Piroxicam (nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drug) 20 mg twice daily for ten days after food.
  5. Take Rabeprazole (antacid) 20 mg twice daily for ten days before food.
  6. Take a tablet of Shelcal (Calcium and Cholecalciferol) 500 mg twice daily before food for 30 days.
  7. Take a tablet of vitamin D once daily for ten days.
  8. Avoid these tablets if you have bronchial asthma.
  9. Practice wobble board exercises to strengthen muscles.
  10. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them and take medications with their consent.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
