Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 57-year-old male and presently not taking any medications. My right leg calf muscle is tight, swollen, itchy, and reddish towards the lower portion of the leg. I do not have pain. I noticed this development one week ago. Approximately two months back, I fell on the right-hand side of my body, and no fracture was noticed. I was administered painkillers for the same. Radiodiagnosis of the affected part was carried out today, and I have uploaded the reports for your reference. Kindly advise me on the future course of action. Can I continue with a moderate workout in the present state?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Kindly share a picture of the affected limb for reference. Diagnosis based on the reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) can be superficial thrombophlebitis, requiring antibiotics, rest, and review after five days. Regarding the Morel-Lavallée lesion, I am not sure about the diagnosis. I need a better examination to diagnose it. Morel-Lavallée lesions are post-traumatic, closed degloving injuries occurring in the subcutaneous plane superficial to the muscle plane due to disruption of capillaries resulting in an outflow containing hemolymph and necrotic fat. An MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) report will confirm the diagnosis of a Morel-Lavallée lesion. If a capsule is present in the lesion, it indicates the choice of surgery over conservative management of the lesion. Kindly share the ultrasound film and the current medications you are taking.

Thank you.
