Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been addicted to masturbation for 5 years. The veins that I have on my penis seem to be swollen. But now there is no pain, I do not have any problem urinating. Do I have ED or penile vessel blockage?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Based on the information you provided, it is unclear whether you have erectile dysfunction (ED) or penile vessel blockage. The veins you described, known as superficial dorsal veins, are normal structures that run along the top of the penis. They help to drain blood from the erectile tissue during an erection, which allows the penis to return to its flaccid state.

Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Consult with a healthcare provider: If you are concerned about the veins on your penis or any other symptoms you are experiencing. it is important to consult with a healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment. They can help determine whether you have ED or penile vessel blockage and develop a treatment plan that is right for you.
  2. Quit masturbation: While quitting masturbation is a personal decision, it is important to note that excessive masturbation can contribute to ED by desensitizing the penis and disrupting the normal functioning of the erectile tissue. By quitting masturbation and adopting healthy sexual habits, such as practicing safe sex and communicating openly with your partner, you may be able to improve your sexual function and reduce your risk of ED.
  3. Manage any underlying medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol, can contribute to ED by affecting the blood flow and nerve function in the penis. By managing any underlying medical conditions through lifestyle changes and medication as prescribed by your healthcare provider, you may be able to improve your sexual function and reduce your risk of ED.
  4. Practice stress-reducing activities: Stress can contribute to ED by disrupting the normal functioning of the erectile tissue and causing tension in the body. By practicing stress-reducing activities, such as meditation, yoga, or deep breathing exercises, you may be able to improve your sexual function and reduce your risk of ED by promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels.

I hope this helps. Thank you.
