What causes acute pain in the foot area spreading to thighs?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing acute pain in the foot area, which gradually spreads up to the thighs. This happened seven years back, and after a month or so it disappeared and again resurfaced six years back. Recently I consulted an orthopedic doctor who advised me to use MCR footwear. During the first couple of days of using the footwear, the pain appeared to have eased but it has surfaced again, and I am unable to concentrate on my work. Is this a serious health issue? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

This does not seem to be a serious issue, so do not worry at all. This just seems to be related to your tendons and inflammation of it. Apply ice twice daily over the affected area. I suggest you take the following medications:

  1. Take a tablet of Ibuprofen 400 mg twice for 10 days after food.

  2. Take a tablet of Rabeprazole 20 mg twice for 10 days before food.

  3. Take a tablet of Shelcal (Calcium and vitamin D3) 500 mg twice for 30 days before food.

  4. Take a tablet of vitamin D 60k units once daily for 10 days, then once a month for 11 months.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent. Do not take these tablets if you have bronchial asthma. I hope this has helped you.

Thank you for consulting me.
