Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a query. I had a small cut on my finger. And with that wound, I lifted a rusted box lid. I was not sure about whether my wound got exposed to that rusted lid or not. So, I took an injection of TT shot today. But the staff nurse mistakenly gave the vaccine with an insulin syringe on my arm today. Do I need to take it intramuscular again?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I understand your concern.

No, you do not have to take the vaccination again. They give it with an insulin syringe only in the arm. So do not worry; the finger cut should be fresh to get the infection. That is why the chances of getting tetanus are zero in your case, and you have taken the vaccine, so just feel free. Nothing to worry at all.

Was the finger cut fresh?

Can you send me pictures of your finger cut?

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Yes, the cut was fresh.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your quick response.

I need to see the picture of the cut. Please attach a photo of it. Was it bleeding at the time of contact with a rusty box?

Please let me know, and do not worry. You are not going to have any tetanus infection, so just relax.

Please attach a picture.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Yes, the cut is fresh. I had taken two doses of TT injection four years back.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the pictures (attachments removed for patient's identity protection), and I want to tell you that such minor cuts cannot cause tetanus, so do not worry that you have taken the vaccine, and there are no chances of getting infections. If you need anything else, please let me know.

Thank you
