Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 19-year-old young man, and I have noticed that my penis foreskin is not tight in both positions. Although I do not experience any pain during urination, I am unable to retract my foreskin. When I discussed this with my father, he suggested that it might naturally become uncircumcised as I grow older, emphasizing that there's no need for surgery. He, too, is naturally uncircumcised. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

From the details you provided, it seems you are questioning the normalcy of your foreskin not fully retracting and whether surgery is required.

During childhood and adolescence, it is not uncommon for the foreskin to remain unretracted due to the presence of a thin tissue called the frenulum, attaching it to the glans (head) of the penis. As one ages, this tissue tends to become more elastic, facilitating easier retraction.

However, if you encounter challenges in retracting your foreskin or experience discomfort during urination, it could indicate a condition known as phimosis. Phimosis occurs when the foreskin is too tight to retract over the glans, leading to potential issues such as irritation, infections, and difficulties with hygiene.

If you are dealing with symptoms of phimosis or have other concerns related to your penis, it is advisable to seek guidance from a healthcare professional. They can conduct an evaluation and provide recommendations for treatment, determining whether surgery or other interventions are necessary to address any underlying conditions.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
