Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had vaginal sex with a sex worker nine months back and after three weeks of exposure, I have experienced tingling in my penis, leg nerves, back burning sensation, arm numbness, and after a few months I am experiencing candida, leg sole hotness, leg muscles pain, neck discomfort, pins in sole Which gradually subsided. I also underwent HIV tests, and a p24 antigen-antibody test, and all results were negative. I am concerned as I am experiencing the initial symptoms again along with candida. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welocme to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection has a window period of up to 12 weeks after the last exposure during which the test results can be false negative. However, any test beyond this window period can be taken as conclusive. As all the tests are negative in your case, it can be ascertained that you are less likely to be infected with HIV. It is very natural to feel stressed and worried and overthink about HIV. Most of the symptoms appear to be a consequence of this. Even vitamin B12 deficiency can at times present like this.

I suggest you to get tested for vitamin B12.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Along with the previously mentioned symptoms, I also had testicular pain without any further exposure. As all my tests are negative, what can be done to diagnose the cause of my condition? Could these symptoms be because of HSV-1, as my HSV-1 IgG is always positive and IgM is always negative? Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

HSV (herpes simplex virus) does not cause such symptoms. I suggest you get your vitamin b12 levels checked.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
