How to manage a small hole in the middle of the tooth?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a small hole in the middle of my tooth and the top of my tooth. I do not have any other symptoms. The only medication I am taking is a multivitamin. What should I do?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

As per the explanation, it looks like tooth decay but does not look deep. So my suggestion is to consult a dentist and get evaluated and if the decay is superficial then filling the tooth with a tooth-colored filling material will prevent further decaying. The investigation to be done is to take a tooth X-ray for confirmation of the severity of the decay. The probable diagnosis is dental caries. Preventive measures include brushing your teeth twice a day, using antiseptic mouthwash gargle, and getting a dental checkup done every six months. Follow up with the X-ray results.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
