My upper front tooth feels a little sore after I hit it with a bottle. What to do?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I got a hit in my upper front teeth while taking a drink from the bottle. It banged my lip. I did not feel anything hard at that time. But it created a break on the skin of my upper lip. After two days, my upper lip and nostrils got numb with tingling. My teeth is sore but it is not sensitive.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your teeth and lip got a little banged up. It is normal for the teeth to have an achy feeling. It may look like a bruise. It can last for a week. It is good to hear that the teeth are not mobile or sensitive. It is a good sign. Wait for a week and your nose, lip, and teeth will come back to normal. You can have some damage on the teeth when it is banged in a hard manner. Keep an eye on the teeth to see whether it shows any color changes with darkening. If you notice it, you can consult a dentist as the teeth can have a dead nerve requiring a root canal treatment. Try to avoid using the front teeth for a day or two to speed up your healing process.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Regards.
