Hello doctor,

My mother is 51 years old with DM and thyroid and is suffering from MDR tuberculosis. She is on medication for 15 months. Recently her medicine has been changed due to diarrhea. Her new medicine are Elox OZ, Rabifit DSR, Calvit 500 mg, Doxid 50 mg, Trixid-H, Petril MD, Rejunex CD3, Ativan 1 mg, Zenoxa 300 mg, Censpram plus, Redotil, Combutol 1000 mg, Augmentin 1000 mg, Pzid 750 mg, lcin 500 mg, Ethide 250 mg, Linox 600 mg, Econorm sachet, QPAS. Does any of the above-mentioned medicine cause this problem?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This contains a big list of medicines including anti-TB medicines, antibiotics, antidepressants, anti-diarrhea medicines, etc. Few of them are the same compounds, especially antidepressants containing Clonazepam.

Rabifit-DSR contains Domperidone, which can cause increased gut motility. You can substitute it with plain Rabeprazole. Augmentin has the potential to cause antibiotic-induced diarrhea by altering the gut flora. Your list contains Econorm which helps in relieving diarrhea. All the antidepressants can alter gut motility but mostly decrease it.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
