Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My father is suffering from TB and diabetes. Now, he is not able to move and is feeling very weak. It has been one month since the diagnosis was made. How much time will it take for him to recover? Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

We will help you identify and solve your health concerns.

I just read your query and I need more details about the medical history of your father like how long he is diabetic, what drugs he is taking, and what are the values of his fasting blood sugar, blood pressure, and HBA1C (glycated hemoglobin). However, I assume it has been one month since he was diagnosed with TB (tuberculosis) since you have not mentioned whether it has been one month since the diagnosis of TB or diabetes.

If it has been one month since he was diagnosed with TB, then I must say that it will take six months or probably more for the treatment to finish depending upon the type of disease progression. It will take some time for him to get back on his foot. In the meantime, I suggest you monitor his diet and provide him with a good protein diet, a diet containing lots of fruits, expose him to fresh air, and provide psychological support as he has two co-morbid conditions and is underweight. He will do well with all the support he gets. Be vigilant about low blood sugar since he is not eating well and also TB can cause low blood sugar levels.

Wish you healthy and happy times ahead.

Thank you.
