Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

What happens if I do not finish the antibiotics needed to treat my tuberculosis? Do I have to get a consultation after finishing my medication for tuberculosis for six months? I have been on antibiotics medicines for six months for his tuberculosis, but have not had a check-up since. I have been having chest pains constantly. Please advice. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. If you do not complete the treatment, then tuberculosis will not recover completely, it will reoccur, and it will be resistant to previous medications. You will need even more potent drugs for a longer duration to fight tuberculosis. So I would advise you to complete the tuberculosis treatment for the destined period. Secondly, for the chest pains, my suggestion will be to get an ECG (electrocardiography) done along with the chest X-ray. ECG will help us rule out any cardiac issues. A chest X-ray will tell us if tuberculosis is worsening or not. Kindly do a follow-up with the doctor. Tuberculosis is something that should be dealt with utmost care. I hope this helps. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
