Can my HCP test explain weight loss and fatigue?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I've been feeling really tired and low on energy lately, and I’ve also lost a few pounds without trying. I recently had an HCP test done. Could you take a look and help me understand what it means? Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your message.

Based on your test results (attachment removed to protect patient identity), here are my suggestions:

  1. Diabetes: Your blood sugar levels indicate uncontrolled diabetes. At your age (30), this is most likely type 1 diabetes, and you will need to start insulin injections right away. Please consult a local diabetes specialist as soon as possible. A short stay in the hospital may be helpful to safely begin insulin therapy and stabilize your condition.
  2. Cholesterol and Lipids: Your lipid profile is significantly abnormal. I recommend starting a combination medication such as Atorvastatin with Fenofibrate (Atocor-F) to manage your cholesterol levels.
  3. Lifestyle changes: It's important to begin daily physical activity and follow a low-fat, low-carbohydrate diet immediately. These changes will support better blood sugar and cholesterol control.
  4. Vitamin D Deficiency: Your vitamin D levels are very low. I suggest taking one Calcirol sachet (vitamin D3) once a week for 6 weeks, along with Shelcal 500 mg (calcium + vitamin D) twice a day.
  5. Hemoglobin: Your hemoglobin is higher than normal (ideal max is 16 g/dL). This may be due to dehydration. Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day.
  6. Vitamin B levels: Your vitamin B12 is borderline low. You can start Becosule-Z, one capsule daily, to help support your energy levels and overall health.

Further tests recommended: I also recommend the following additional tests:

  • Echocardiography (to assess heart function).
  • Cerebrovascular Doppler (CV Doppler).
  • Abdominal ultrasound.
  • Blood pressure monitoring.

Please consult your doctor to review these suggestions, discuss treatment options, and start the medications only with their guidance and approval.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert back with the reports.

Thank you.
