I am a 67-year-old male with a height of 5.7 feet and weighing 189 lbs. I have been a type 2 diabetic patient for 20 years. I take Losartan for blood pressure, Metformin and Amlodipine, Gliclazide, Tamusolin for prostate, Omeprazole for hiatus hernia, and Allopurinol for gout. I drink coconut water to prevent night cramps. I drink and smoke, but I am trying to stop smoking with the help of nicotine substitutes. About a year ago, I woke up with severe pain in my right inner thigh, which took approximately three minutes to fade. This has happened several times, and I now have constant mild pain in the same place. Somebody suggested it may be a thrombosis.

Deep vein thrombosis can occur in any individual, but of course, there are certain risk factors that may put you at a greater risk for this.

However, the fact that it has been there for a year without any complications does not typically sound like it, although it does not rule out the possibility of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) either.

Could you tell me if there are other symptoms like swelling, redness, or difficulty breathing?

Also, does the pain or attack always happen at the same spot?

Depending on these, we can proceed to identify what could be the underlying pathology.

You may need to get a test or two done.
