Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am diagnosed with typhoid after undergoing a Widal test. I have been suffering from fever for the past ten days. The doctor advised tablet Cefoperazone and Sulbactam injections for four days still, fever is not reducing.
Then, I went to another doctor, where the tests were repeated. In the report, everything looks fine. Platelets, WBC, and hemoglobin were normal, typhoid was detected, and pus cells were present in urine. Then I was advised to take tablet Piperacillin and Tazobactam injection for three days, but the fever is not coming down. Then I underwent a chest X-ray and scan of the abdomen, but there were no abnormalities in the reports.
Please share your suggestions.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
As per your description, you are suffering from typhoid and UTI (urinary tract infection). The best way to deal with it is to take the antibiotics for seven days. Since the antibiotics you took were for a short period, you do not have any resolution in your symptoms as a complete course of antibiotics is required.
If you want to continue with intravenous antibiotics, I would suggest Cefoperazone and Sulbactam are best to treat both of the diseases simultaneously. Tablet Piperacillin and Tazobactam will help in UTI but not much in typhoid. Apart from these, tablet Azithral 500 mg twice a day for five days will make you completely fine. You can share your reports with me so that I can have a closer look and appropriately guide you.
Hope this helps.
