What causes frequent body pain and fever that do not subside with medications?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My father has had frequent fevers and body pain and sometimes experiences nausea for six months. The doctor gave him medicine for typhoid and malaria, but it did not relieve him.

What could be the problem?

Please tell me.

In reports, it showed that he had typhoid.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please get a blood culture and drug sensitivity done.

Reports are suggestive of typhoid fever.

  1. Please give him Tablet Cefixime 400 milligrams twice a day for 14 days.
  2. Tablet Rantac 150 milligrams (Ranitidin) twice a day before meals.
  3. Tablet Paracetamol thrice a day for fever.

I advise you consult a specialist and take the above-mentioned medications with the consent.

Ask him to take bed rest for 15 days and to avoid spicy and oily food.

Ask him to maintain personal hygiene after visiting the washroom by washing his hands with soap and water every time.

Thank you.
