Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have attached my pelvis sonography images here and need to know the interpretations.
Can you please guide me?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through the ultrasound images you provided (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) and made the following observations.
Your uterus appears bulky in size. On the color flow doppler sonography, the anterior myometrium (uterine muscular tissue) is heterogeneous, focally thickened, and hypervascular. A few cystic lesions are also noted in the myometrium with indistinct endometrial-myometrial border. These findings go in favor of a condition called uterine adenomyosis (a disorder in which endometrial glands and stroma are present within the myometrium). Symptoms in this condition may range from mild discomfort to lower abdominal cramps, prolonged menstrual bleeding, etc. Treatment options vary depending upon the severity of the disease ranging from medicines to surgery. You would need to consult a gynecologist for this.
I hope I have answered your query.
Stay safe.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Thank you for answering.
Are these a sign of cancer? And how big are the cysts?
Please answer.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Adenomyosis is a benign condition with a low potential for malignant transformation. However, it can be a precursor for malignancy in a few cases. Malignancy can only be confirmed by postoperative pathological examination of the tissue. The size of cysts in the myometrium is small, less than a centimeter.
I hope that answers your questions.
Take care.
