This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I conducted a scrotum ultrasound, I wanted to understand the report if it had any abnormalities. Varicocele or any other abnormalities. I am yet to get a full report from the laboratory just got images through the portal which will have summary values. I have done blood work everything looks normal. I have attached reports for reference.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Grade 1 varicocele as per ultrasound on the left side otherwise normal scan (attachment removed to protect patient's identity). Laboratory hormone levels are normal. Semen analysis is to be done. If the semen analysis is normal and there is no scrotal pain, then no treatment is required. If you have semen analysis abnormal or you got scrotal pain then treatment is required. Varicocele ligation is a simple 20 to 30 minute procedure and should treat the condition. If you have any other questions kindly let me know. I hope I have cleared your doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply. Is that on the left side or right side? As per values, the right side has 2.5 mm after the Valsalva maneuver. So I am confused if it is the right or left side.

Hello,

Glad to have you back!

Yes, it is on the right side. It is on one side and on the right side most of the varicoceles are on the left but in your case, it is on the right. Anyway, that will not make any difference to its management. Kindly do a semen analysis test and follow-up. I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.

Regarding follow up

After three days.
