I discharged round and flat black pellets. What are they?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had round and flat black pellets discharged from my colon after coffee enema with gentle massage. I do not have pain or abdominal discomfort, but I occasionally get gassy. The black balls are all perfectly round, flat, and all are exactly the same size and structure. I discharged about 40 of them.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I need following details to help you better:

  1. Did you have same pellets coming out prior to coffee enema also?
  2. How many times do you pass stools?
  3. Are the pellets coming every time you have a motion?
  4. Since how many days are you having this?

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your response. I think I actually figured it out. I think they were just undigested Chlorella pills.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • Yes, you have figured it right. These are usually undigested food material and in your case, Chlorella pills can really come out undigested as pellets.
  • With the next motions, you would still find them for 2 to 3 days, and after that, your motion would be normal. In case, your problem persists, please write back to me. Take care.

Thank you.
