Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 16-year-old boy, with an edge-to-edge bite. I have consulted with an orthodontist and he suggested monitoring growth until 18 or so, at which point depending on how much worse it has gotten, either braces or surgery followed by braces. Is this my only option?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

After 12 years you can go for any of the orthodontic treatment but in your case, you may be having impacted third molar in future so if the treatment done at this time it may be deranged till third molars are fully developed. So it is better to watch for a year too, in case you have any functional problems like pain in TMJ (temporomandibular joint) or any muscle hypertrophy or even pain in lower front teeth you can go for this time too.

I hope my answer will help you and visit us back if you have any questions further.

Regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
