Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My urinal passage is sore and the foreskin of the penis is not moving. Continuous irritation is there. I am a diabetic of 63 years, not having any bad habits. My diabetic level is under control. Taking Diabend M tablets, HCQS 200 one tablet, Novostat CV 20 one tablet, Optodoz and Norflox now for infection.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
It is likely to be an urinary tract infection. It is better if you can provide some more details of your symptoms like any fever, frequency and urgency of urination, any white patches over penis, pus discharge through urethral opening, duration of symptoms. Diabetics are prone for infection and their spread.
You should get urine routine examination and urine culture sensitivity testing. Also, if urine is positive for infection then it is recommended that you should also under ultrasound of the kidneys to look for infection there. You should drink plenty of water, continue Norflox 400 mg twice a day for seven days. You should also clean penis with soap and water, try to push foreskin back gradually, gently and repeatedly.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
I urinate at regular intervals only but as you have said small white patch is there. I will complete the seven day period of taking Norflox 200 as said and go for other tests if no improvement is there. I am feeling better after taking two Norflox tablets yesterday and I will continue it. In addition to this small amount of discharge through urethral opening.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Considering the pus discharge, it may be gonococcal or chlamydial urethritis for which Norflox is second line treatment, however, it may respond, you continue Norflox and if not responding then need to switch on other antibiotics like Azithromycin 1 gm single dose only, which can adequately treat both. All the best.
Patient's Query
Thank you doctor,
I have taken medicines and underwent lab tests and I have uploaded results for your your perusal and opinion. In the urine report it has been stated that bacteria as plus. Regarding cholesterol I was taking Novostat CV 10 and later changed to CV 20 as per Doctor's advice. As I felt it was strong I switched back to Novostat CV 10 for the past one month. May be due to this there is increase. Kindly offer your advice in these two issues.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Regarding cholesterol, you should switch back to 20 mg and repeat Lipid profile after 8 weeks. It is elevated. Have healthy diet and regular exercises. Regarding UTI, how are your symptoms? Urine routine report is normal. This much pus cells and bacteria are normally present. Since you being on antibiotics, we should consider that infection has resolved. If you have completed seven days of antibiotics, you should stop it.
