Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had recurrent UTIs since last December. I have taken antibiotics multiple times and I am currently taking Cranpac for more than a month. For a month I have had body pain (my arms hurt when I touch or rub them, it feels very sensitive). Recently I have started noticing petechiae rashes on my thighs. I am not sure if these are related. Kindly advise what I should do.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern,

Please help me with a few details so that we can get to the bottom of your issue:

  1. Are you diabetic or hypertensive?
  2. Have you had any surgeries in the past?
  3. How many times a year, would you say you suffer from a UTI?
  4. Do you have any trouble passing urine such as increased frequency, urgency, blood in your urine, or feeling of incomplete bladder emptying?
  5. Have you had any tests done recently? If so, could you please share the results with me?
  6. Is there any history of white vaginal discharge?
  7. Are you single or with a partner?

Please revert with the details and I will do my best to assist you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor, thank you so much for the reply.

  1. I am neither diabetic nor hypertensive.
  2. In December 2022, I had to undergo a cystoscopy after two recurrent UTIs within three months and on account of microscopic hematuria. They could not find any abnormality, just a patch of bleeding, which the doctor said could be the aftermath of an infection.
  3. Within the last year, More than six times that I know of.
  4. Yes increased frequency, feeling incomplete bladder emptying, burning. Microscopically blood was detected multiple times, but I could not see it with naked eyes ever.
  5. I have done some tests and I will attach the results.
  6. White discharge is there. But nothing abnormal that I have noticed. No foul smell, no increase in production.
  7. I am with a partner.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

UTIs are common in women of your age group. You will need to re-do some tests to see what kind of infection you have currently. The tests needed are,

  1. Urine routine and microscopy.
  2. Urine culture and sensitivity.

If you have not undergone an ultrasound in the past, you will need to do that as well.

I suggest you start these medications only after you have given the tests.

  1. Tablet Cranpac D twice daily for three months.
  2. Tablet Econorm 250 mg twice daily for three months.
  3. Capsule Utivax once daily in the morning before food for three months.
  4. Tablet Mirago 50 mg once daily for two weeks.
  5. Betadine vaginal pessary inserts in the vagina at night for three days.

It is important to use a condom when you are with your partner. It is one of the common reasons for UTI. In addition to this, please follow these instructions,

  1. Drink three liters of water per day.
  2. Drink lemonade two to three times a week.
  3. Always clean the vagina from front to back.

I will prescribe antibiotics based on the culture report.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you so much doctor.

I will do the tests and get back. I have slight body pain whenever I drink water. I am not sure if it is a problem? Currently taking Cranpac D only in the morning. Should I take it at night too?

Yes. Please do take the medicine at night too.

Thank you.
