Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from UTI from last six months. All my tests are normal, but the symptoms are not going away.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You should have uploaded the last urine routine examination and culture reports. Do you have any medical comorbidity like diabetes? If UTI (urinary tract infection) is there for so long, it should be investigated thoroughly. So, get an ultrasound KUB (kidney, ureter, and bladder) with PVR (post-void residual urine). Is there a possibility of prostatitis? Long-term UTI indicates some underlying pathology like immunocompromised status, diabetes, tuberculosis, hidden infection in prostate or epididymis, or stone disease. Antibiotic must be continued according to culture sensitivity reports.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached all my test reports.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

This is more than a year old report (attachment removed to protect patient identity), but you told that your symptoms started six months back. Please attach a new urine routine examination, culture, and complete blood count reports.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the recent reports. Please go through them.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

This culture report (attachment removed to protect patient identity) shows Klebsiella infection, so I suggest you try taking antibiotics according to the sensitivity report. Ciprofloxacin, Nitrofurantoin or any other antibiotic can be taken according to the test report. What symptoms are you having? Do a complete blood count and CT scan of the KUB region to find out the focus of infection. Also, repeat urine routine examination after a week of starting the antibiotic.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

My urine has a lot of bubbles, is smelling, and is yellow in color. I have a burning sensation on peeing. Please suggest some medicines, as my married and sexual life are getting affected.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you try IV (intravenous) antibiotic Ceftriaxone with Amikacin for five days, then repeat urine routine examination. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicine after their consent. Please get the CT scan done. Nothing will happen to your sexual life, you need to recover from this infection first.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I will consult my doctor and start taking the injection, then I will get the tests done.Thank you so much.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, and after five days repeat the urine routine examination, complete blood count, and CT KUB scan.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you so much for all the help.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You are always welcome. Do take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

What precautions should be taken while taking this injection?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The injection should be preceded by a test dose, to rule out any allergy. Drink 4 to 5 liters of water daily. Take rest until the infection subsides. If there is fever, I suggest taking Paracetamol. And if you have burning while peeing, then try taking Pyridium (Phenazopyridine hydrochloride).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

So, it means there is no need to worry during taking this injection, right?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, there are no such issues. You should feel an improvement in 48 to 72 hours.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My injection dose got over, but the problem is still there.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Please repeat the urine routine examination.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I will repeat the tests again.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Once you get the reports, please show them to me.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for replying. I will do the test and send you the reports.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Sure. Take care.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached my urine report.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There are occasional pus cells and no growth in the culture. So, the infection is treated.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

But I still have a burning sensation on urination. I also took Pyridium, but it did not help. What can I do?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You told me that you already underwent cystoscopy, which was clear. I suggest you get a transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) of the prostate, to rule out any hidden infection in the prostate and CT KUB (kidney, urethra, bladder) region, to rule out any source of infection in the upper urinary tract.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I will do all the tests suggested by you. And will get back with the reports.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You are most welcome. Yes, get back with the reports.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
