Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am suffering from pain and a foul odor while urinating. Why so?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hope you are doing well.

I have gone through the information you have provided and I do understand your concern.

Pain, burning sensation, and discomfort during and after urination are signs of urinary tract infection. A foul smell during urination is also a symptom of the same along with the presence of fungal elements. As you have mentioned having intercourse four days back, most often not cleansing private areas as soon as possible following intercourse can cause bacterial contamination in the private area and may cause infection in the form of both bacterial and fungal on both vaginal and urethral areas.

My advice:

1. Tests: Do urine routine and urine culture and sensitivity. These are two tests that are important to rule out the presence of bacteria and fungal elements in urine and are important to provide appropriate medications for the same.

2. Mix a tablespoon of Citralka (Disodium Hydrogen Citrate) syrup in 1 glass of normal temperature water and consume thrice daily to reduce the burning sensation.

3. Wash your private area daily.

4. Make sure to urinate and always wash the private area thoroughly as soon as possible following intercourse without any delay to prevent contamination.

5. Make sure to have at least 12 glasses of water per day to prevent pain during urination.

6. Direct consultation with a urologist is advised in case of severe symptoms for examination purposes and swab tests if need be.

7. Kindly update the report for reviewing and for providing appropriate medications based on the report.

Hope I could be of help.

Stay happy, healthy, and safe.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thanks for your reply.

I will follow your advice.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed the reports that you have sent (the attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

The report shows the presence of urinary tract infection which is depicted in the form of the presence of bacteria as you can view in the urine routine.

However, kindly attach the report of the urine culture and sensitivity once you receive them in order to understand and confirm the type of bacteria that is present and the type of antibiotic that the bacteria is sensitive to in order to provide appropriate medication for the same.

In the meantime, kindly continue the medication that has been prescribed. In case of any severe symptoms, a urologist may be consulted directly for examination purposes.

Have a great day.

Take care.

Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
