Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have sores near the opening of my vagina. It started with one side three days ago, and I noticed another one the next day on the other side, although the sore was much smaller and less irritating. A day back, I broke into a fever around 5 pm and was able to recover from it after using Motrin by this morning. I took a hot bath and noticed a pustule had developed on the sore of the side that hurts more, but it went away after the bath as well. This developed after having a lot of rough sex with my partner several days in a row, and it was two to three times per day ten days ago. I was experiencing usual soreness and dryness that is not uncommon when this happens. Typically I heal after a few days of no sexual activity and use a vaginal moisturizer for the dryness. I started feeling like I was healing but not wholly a week ago. And I had intercourse again but felt like it made things worse on the soreness after. A few days ago, I started cycling, and I noticed these sores appeared externally. I am 34 years old, and I am under birth control pills. I do not have much of a means to visit a doctor over this at this time, so if there is anything I can do at home, it would be helpful. I only experience pain when my urine hits the sore or if I open my legs too wide, as if it is tearing the sore. I have used Ibuprofen for the pain but do not take it regularly because my job is where I cannot step away. I have used my bidet when home to rinse my vagina after urinating. I do not think it is an STD because my partner and I get tested regularly and have not had other partners in about five months.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through the details and images shared by you (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), and I fully understand your concern and will surely help you.

After seeing the images, I feel that it is most likely not STD (sexually transmitted disease).

Further, it could be due to one of the following reasons,

1. Shaving the private area and some allergy owing to that.

2. Change in underwear brand and fabric or feminine wash or soap.

3. Intense sweating and rubbing of fabric at vaginal lips owing to exercise or daily routine.

So based upon the above. I suggest the following,

1. Observe excellent personal hygiene.

2. Use gentle feminine wash to clean the private parts.

3. Keep the area dry.

4. Wear loose cotton underwear.

5. Use a gentle soap to wash your underwear.

6. Avoid intense exercise or workouts.

7. Use barrier contraception like condoms to prevent the spread of infection from you to your partner.

Do not worry, and you will be fine soon.

Thank you.
