Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have watery bloody vaginal discharge after my period but I saw on the internet that is a sign of cervix cancer. I went to the gynecologist and she said that everything looked good and I have a sensible cervix. I told her about the spotting but she really did not believe that it was a warning sign. I am scared, I am just 19 years old. If I had cancer would she know?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Would have she seen that I have cervix cancer second stage or not? Are you sure it is normal? Is it common? Because on the internet, it really scares me.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You are only 19 years old. Cancer cervix is due to HPV (human papillomavirus) infection which infects cervix after the female is sexually active and you are sexually active only from last year. It takes 10 years for HPV virus to develop cancer cervix after infection.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Do you think that I am good? And that the vaginal discharge is nothing to worry about?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, you did not had a cancer cervix but you also do not have a healthy vagina you need to screen for it.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I screen for it. She did a pelvic exam and a pap smear too. What could it be caused? I do not have any odor.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It might be due to your birth control pills also and due to increased sensitivity of the cervix, or increased estrogen level in your body. Just stop birth control pills and try other methods of contraception for some days and use lubricant and see if there are some changes or not. Did you have any kind of itching?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Are you sure of that? Would the physician check if my cervix was abnormal?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Actually, I do not know what she seen or not but according to cancer cervix studies, it is rare at your age and not develop within one year of sexual activity. It takes at least 10 years to develop and there are other causes of bloody vaginal discharge why you feel you have cancer cervix.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, she saw my cervix.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

What is the report of your papsmear test?

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I will have my response in two months, but I feel something was abnormal. She would have seen it, right?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes. if she is gynecologist and she has taken you for examination then she will definitely examine and look for something. It is not possible here to see with the naked eye than she had taken your pap smear test. While taking pap smear bleeding occurred or not? Cancer cervix bleeds on touch.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, but she said it was normal. It happens to a lot of people and my cervix is sensible. I called her this morning and she told me to not worry about it and the only reason she did the pap smear is for reassuring me.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I also want you to explain you that only if she is assured that you are normal then do not worry. This bleeding might be because of the sensitive cervix. I think you just try other contraceptives so that the sensitivity of the cervix might be decreased. So will solve your problem.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, I hope so. She said that with my symptoms cancer will be advanced and she has not seen something abnormal. It is just a sensitive cervix. But my spotting started a day after my pap smear. Do you know if it is normal? I called her and she said that yes it can happen.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it happens. After taking pap smear sometimes bleeding occur in a sensitive cervix also. Do not worry. As your pap smear report comes you will be confirmed about your diagnosis. But just rule out other causes if after stopping contraceptive pills also you get a discharge, then go for hysteroscopy as there might be an internal polyp which cannot be seen on the external examination which is leading to your discharge. Or just do sonography scan if symptoms persist.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

But is it normal to have spotting the day after?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, it is not normal. That is what I am trying to say. It is abnormal to have spotting after intercourse, so telling you to rule out the causes of your spotting. The front seeing cause which I guess from the conversation with you is a sensitive cervix due to pill or polyp. You have to investigate one by one.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
