I have yellowish vaginal discharge and itching for ten days already. Please advice.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I would like to ask questions about my problem. I have vaginal discharge and I started to have a watery discharge. I also have a mild odor with yellowish discharge when I started using birth control pills. I am using it for ten days now. I feel uncomfortable and it is very itchy. Please advise and what to do.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern regarding vaginal discharge. It can occur due to various causes. It can occur due to a fungal infection, a bacterial infection, and due to sexually transmitted diseases. For getting a better answer, it is necessary to know more about the symptoms. In fungal infection, the patient can have vaginal itchiness and discomfort and there is an increase in the amount of secretions. They are thick, white, and curd like discharge without odor. In bacterial infection, the discharge is malodorous (fishy odor), thin, homogenous, and clear with white or gray in color and the discharge gets worsen after intercourse. Regarding STD (sexually transmitted diseases), I need more information about the sexual history related to your partners, pain during intercourse, previous investigations, and examinations. Since in your case, the secretions are not specific for one kind of infection and so I advise you to visit your family doctor or at least do a culture of the vaginal secretions. Do a follow up for the next step after getting the result.
Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
