Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am ten weeks and six days pregnant and suffer from itching in my vagina and butt hole. My gynecologist suggested washing the vagina with Intiwash liquid, inserting a Candi -CL capsule inside the vagina, and taking Doxt-SL capsule antibiotics two tablets a day after food. Is it safe to take antibiotics during pregnancy?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern. Doxt-SL (Doxycycline and Lactobacillus) tablet is not safe during pregnancy, so it is better not to take it. It interferes with the teeth and bone development of the baby. Itching near the vaginal area and the butt hole is very common in early pregnancy due to engorged pelvic blood flow. Itching near the butt hole could be due to underlying piles aggravated by constipation. You may also experience more vaginal itching during pregnancy due to a yeast infection. So continue applying Candid-CL (Clindamycin and Clotrimazole) capsules. Keep your vagina and perirenal area clean and dry. Avoid wearing tight underwear. Wear loose pants. Apply moisturizer to the butt area if it is dry and flaky. Avoid constipation. If symptoms do not subside in one week, kindly follow up.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Is itching occurring due to elevated blood sugar? I tested my blood sugar during the first month of pregnancy. Fasting sugar was 161 mg/dl. During the second month of pregnancy fasting, the sugar test was 99.0 mg/dl, and the blood sugar test after two hours post-prandial was 130.0 mg/dl. So can elevated blood sugar trigger vaginal infection? Also, I have a Bartholin cyst. But it did not cause me any problems.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Your blood sugar levels of 99 mg/dl and 130 mg/dl are fine. It should not create any problems. But restrict your carbohydrate intake. The itching could be due to Progestin (norethindrone) supplements if you are taking any. Also, send urine culture and sensitivity test reports to check for urinary tract infection. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
