Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I accidentally put hand sanitizer on my pessary instead of a lubricant. I cleaned my vagina, and there is no burning or irritation. Now I am wondering what else I should do? Please guide me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Please do not worry. I fully understand your concern and will surely help you. Please tell me, how many hours back did this happen? Which lubricant do you use? How much quantity of hand sanitizer did you put? I am sure you would have removed the pessary after you realized it. How much duration did it stay inside? You have cleaned your vulva and outer area with some mild soap and lukewarm water. If not, please tell me. Is there any inflammation, irritation, or vaginal discharge? Did you pass urine after this incident? The vagina is an organ that regularly cleans itself, so please do not worry. It maintains a fine pH balance. As a preliminary thing, please clean the area around the vagina and keep it dry, and I am sure things are fine. Please answer the questions for better help.

I removed it immediately and washed the area. I do not have any discharge or irritation. Please guide me.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com

Then there is nothing major to worry about. However, be watchful if you notice any changes in the routine. Although I do not feel there should be any but to being cautious is better. I had requested you for one important information like how many hours back did this happen? I feel you are fine and do not worry. I hope this was helpful.
