Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 33-year-old brother has been experiencing high fever, severe headaches, and joint and muscle pain for the past two days. These symptoms have raised significant alarm, and I am looking for ways to identify the cause and effectively address the issue. Can you please advise on the appropriate steps to determine the underlying cause and what would be the suitable treatment options to alleviate his symptoms and ensure a speedy recovery? Please suggest.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing and I understand your concern.

These can be due to viral infections, usually typhoid, dengue, and malaria, which can lead to rapid fever. So, I suggest you do a CBC (complete blood count) test. It will give us a hint on what the cause is, and then we can treat it accordingly.

For now, I would suggest you take,

  1. Tablet Paracetamol 500 mg once after a meal whenever there is a fever for three days.
  2. Drink lukewarm water only. Take more fluids.
  3. Avoid cold drinks completely.
  4. Are you taking any medications currently? Please let me know.

    Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
