Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have some white layer on my penis head, which looks like dandruff. I have itching when I wash it. I applied Clotrimazole cream, but it reappeared when I stopped using the cream. I need to know about this infection. Which cream should I use?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. From the attached images, it is balanitis (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). The causes are improper hygiene, scratching and rubbing, allergic reaction to irritants, soaps, yeast or fungal infection, eczema, uncontrolled diabetes, injury, psoriasis, and chemical exposure. The symptoms could be pain, tenderness, irritation, and dry foreskin. I suggest you do the following: 1. Practice good hygiene. 2. Avoid scented soaps and lotions. 3. Always clean the glans penis after retracting the foreskin. 4. Wash with warm water. 5. Use a neutral non-soap cleanser like Cetaphil (Water, Glycerin, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Sodium Cocoamphoacetate, Panthenol, Niacinamide, Pantolactone, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Sodium Benzoate, Masking Fragrance, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid) cleanser. 6. Dry the area after cleaning. 7. Always wash your genital area after sexual intercourse. 8. I suggest you apply Clotrimazole cream twice daily for ten days, take the tablet Teczine M (Levocetirizine and Montelukast) once at night after food for seven days, and tablet Fluconazole 150 mg once after food for three days. Consult a specialist doctor, discuss with them, and take medications with their consent. 9. Avoid scratching and rubbing the lesions. 10. Keep the area clean and dry.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took Miconazole 150 mg 3 tablets and used Clotrimazole and Betamethasone dipropionate cream (Opizole-B). But still, the condition is the same, with inflammation, redness, and dryness. When I took this medicine, I found little changes. I do not have any sexual intercourse. I indulged in masturbating a few days ago. Please give me a solution. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. Avoid highly potent steroid application on the sensitive skin of the penile region. Apply Miconazole cream or Clotrimazole cream twice daily for three weeks. Wash the area with a gentle cleanser for one month.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
