Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a lower wisdom tooth extraction ten days ago, and post-removal the site got an infection which has cleared with antibiotics and salt washes. Now I am having constant toothache on the adjacent molar and upper tooth on the same side. Is this normal?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

The current pain should be for two reasons. Firstly, if the wisdom tooth was present in an angulation such that the adjacent molar can get decayed, then this can be confirmed through an X-ray (probably you should have one already). In this case, when you bite you might get pain in the upper tooth as well. Secondly, it could be a referred pain with no actual decay of any tooth. However, I request you send me the X-ray taken already for the wisdom tooth. This will give me a clue. Only then I could give you a detailed answer for the pain.

Thank you.
