Is it possible to get the wisdom teeth removed with limited mouth opening?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am supposed to be getting my wisdom tooth out in two days. They have been causing me horrible pain, and now I believe one side is very infected. It feels like a big swollen sac, and I can barely open my mouth without hurting. Like my jaw is stuck. What should I do about it? And will I still be able to get my tooth removed?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

1. Just do some exercises to open your mouth. Like in your free time, make a balloon face and fill the air in the mouth as much as you can fill, then keep it for a while, then release it and repeat it.

2. Next, put three fingers between the upper and lower back teeth horizontally and then try to open them so that the jaw will be opened.

3. If not exercise, you can try to rinse your mouth with salt water and turmeric mixture twice a day. This will make it easy to open your mouth without hurting.

4. Use a soft, bristled toothbrush for a while.

Wish you good health and happiness.

Keep me updated with the improvements.
