Can an erupting tooth infection cause swollen lymph nodes?

Hi doctor,
I am a breastfeeding mother of two children. I have swollen lymph nodes, and I have a wisdom tooth growing that is causing pain in my jaw, gums, and teeth. I took Cefalexin, and currently, I am taking Tylenol. I am worried that I may have a tooth infection. Is this an emergency?

You are 29 years old and have a wisdom tooth growing that is supposed to be very late for wisdom tooth eruption because, by 20, your wisdom tooth should have come out. I suggest you x-ray the tooth to see if it is in the correct position of eruption or if it is impacted. If the tooth's position is not in the direction of eruption, then the tooth may try to erupt, but there might not be enough space for it, or the position of eruption might be wrong, and it might have got infected. I suggest you take the following antibiotic course and extract the teeth.
- Tablet Novamox (Amoxycillin) 500 mg three times a day instead of Cefalexin.
- Tablet Combiflam (Ibuprofen and Paracetamol) three times a day.
- Tablet Flagyl (Metronidazole) 400 mg three times a day.
- Gargle with warm water with salt to feel better.
