Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wisdom tooth was removed surgically. Today is the ninth day, and I have been experiencing pain for the past two days. It starts in the evening and increases at night. I do not have pain throughout the day. What could be the issue?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Dry socket pain usually starts around the third day after extraction and is severe and continuous. So chances of a dry socket look a little unlikely as you said you have pain only at night, and it started after a week. It could be due to not maintaining the extraction socket. If you are experiencing excruciating pain, I suggest you visit the dentist and let him know your concern. But if the pain is bearable, I suggest you maintain good oral hygiene by doing warm salt water rinses three to four times a day. In addition, I suggest you use Chlorhexidine mouthwash twice daily in the morning and night.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
