Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old woman. I have flukes infection and a long history of unanswered medical "abnormalities" which can all be attributed to the worms. In the past 15 years, I have had so many problems. It includes heart and vascular diseases, liver problems, reproductive issues, developmentally delayed son, widespread pain, extreme pain in the abdomen, GERD, SIBO, edema, hypersensitivity reaction to medications, "chewed up" cervical discs, compressed spinal cord, migraine, extreme blood pressure, changes in mental status, changes in vision and hearing, and skin infection. I am in so much pain.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your case history and attached pictures in detail (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

As you explained during your case history, you had multiple system involvement. Therefore, I want to ask about your relevant investigations, like a simple complete blood picture where I can see your eosinophil counts, IgE levels, and stool samples for parasites, cysts and ovum. Thus, kindly attach those reports for further suggestions.

I am sure you must have taken medications to deworm yourself, including the antiparasitic medication Albendazole tablets. Regarding your skin lesions, these can occur in various dermatological conditions. I am sure your dermatologist can better examine you physically and even take a skin biopsy of your lesion to diagnose your problems properly. Regarding your overall health and issues, I recommend you consult a physician who will look after all your problems and consult different subspecialties as per your needs. In this way, you will not be exposed to unnecessary medicines.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your response.

I have not done any necessary or appropriate testing yet. However, I will do all those tests and send you the reports. I have an appointment with my dermatologist this week. She was the first doctor to help when I first began to suspect that my acne was not regular cystic acne. She did not do any tests but immediately prescribed me Ivermectin. I took it, and when it began to work, I felt the disturbance of the worms systemically, which scared me because I thought I had tiny little face mites. The way they moved and the sensations and pain they caused showed me where they were and what they had been doing. In addition, my legs swelled profusely, another unexplained symptom of mine throughout the years that were just masked with two diuretics.

I consulted my dermatologist again and told her how the medication affected me, and she suggested consulting another specialist doctor. At that appointment, they were worse than my primary doctor. They did not look at any evidence. They briefly looked at my exposed skin that was scabbed over. Unfortunately, they suggested consulting a psychiatrist as they think my symptoms are related to my mental status. After that, I consulted a psychiatrist and was under treatment.

All the doctors I consulted could not find the exact cause of my condition. Please help me with that.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have reviewed your detailed explanation regarding your health and previous experiences at different times. I suggest the following.

1. Can you please share the details of your current and past medicine?

2. Do you have any alarming symptoms like weight loss?

3. Do you have any significant family history of cancer, tuberculosis, or other infectious diseases?

Please write down your questions in a systematic manner so that you can ask your treating physician in a more systematic way, like your symptoms of skin, symptoms of abdomen, chest, or heart, and even your psychological issues. In this manner, your physician can answer you more appropriately and figure out what is necessary for you. Ask your dermatologist if she can take a biopsy of your skin lesion, if necessary. Meanwhile, you should also try to limit your stress and anxiety because it will cause more trouble for you than solving any health-related issues.

Thank you.
