What is the treatment for vaginal yeast infection?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have noticed that small things in my daily life are affected. I have noticed that my inner garment is always wet and has a yeast smell throughout the day. Is this any infection? How to get this treated? Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

If you are experiencing constant wetness and a yeast-like odor in your underwear, it is possible that you may have a vaginal infection, such as a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. Here are a few suggestions that you can follow:

  • Schedule an appointment with your gynecologist to get a proper diagnosis and treatment. Your gynecologist will likely ask you about your symptoms, perform a physical exam, and possibly take a vaginal swab to check for infections.
  • Avoid wearing tight clothing or underwear made of synthetic materials, as this can trap moisture and exacerbate your symptoms. Instead, wear loose-fitting clothing and underwear made of breathable fabrics such as cotton.
  • Practice good hygiene habits, such as washing your genital area with mild soap and water and wiping from front to back after using the bathroom.
  • Avoid using scented products in the genital area, such as powders and perfumes, as these can cause irritation and worsen your symptoms.
  • Eat a healthy diet and stay hydrated, as this can help maintain a healthy balance of bacteria in your body.

Hope this answers your query.

Regards.
