Is there any alternative to Nature Throid?

Hi doctor,

I was switched to Nature-Throid. Within nine days, I had a severe reaction. It caused panic attacks at night, waking up in sweat and insomnia. Then, my naturopath took me off and said to go back to my Levothyroxine. I take 88 mcg daily and 25 mcg once a week. I just realized that I forgot to take the 25 mcg dose since stopping the Nature-Throid. I am just now stabilizing my sleep again and I am still waking up once at night panicking and overheated. I have next appointment after a week. Should I just wait until I see her or should I take missed once weekly 25 mcg dose?

What should I do to get a normal TSH level?

Hi doctor,

Last year, when I checked my thyroid profile my T3 and T4 were in normal range. But, my TSH level was greater than 150 (normal range 0.35 - 5.50). My doctor prescribed me 100 mg Eltroxin. After three months, my T3 181.7 (normal range 60 -180) and T4 15.2 (normal range 4.50 - 12.60). T3 and T4 levels were higher, but my TSH was well within normal range of 0.37. My doctor changed my prescription to 75 mg Eltroxin. After three months, my T3 113 and T4 7.3 were normal and again TSH was higher, 32. My doctor changed my prescription to 88 mg Thyronorm. Three months later, my T3 and T4 were normal, but TSH was 23.7. Since then, I am on 88 mg Thyronorm and checking the level once in every three months. Always, my T3 and T4 are well within range, but my TSH is higher between 25 and 35. What should I do?

Are my symptoms caused due to taking too much of Thyroxine or HRT?

Hello doctor,

I have just received my blood results of thyroid and hormone blood test, and I require your help, please. I am 54 years old woman, who is 5.6 feet tall and weigh 183 lbs. I have suffered from ill health for many years and cannot remember the last time I felt well. I had a complete hysterectomy at the age of 37, and I was put on 2 mg of HRT Elleste Solo. I have Hashimoto's hypothyroidism and take 150 mg of Thyroxine. I was put on Thyroxine 175 mg, four times a week. I also take 500 mg Metformin tablets, three days. I was also diagnosed with exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, and I take Creon capsules.

My fasting blood results are HbA1C is 56, insulin is 62.5, LH is 24.6, estradiol is 300, testosterone is 0.9, SHBG is 173, free testosterone is 0.005, TSH is 0.58, T4 total is 178.5, free T4 is 19.62, free T3 is 4.25, reverse T3 is 28.0, reverse T3 ratio is 9.88, anti-thyroid peroxidase is 183.8, anti-thyroglobulin is 882, vitamin D and vitamin B12 all in good range. I have vitamin B12 shots every three months.

The symptoms are fatigue, brain fog, forgetfulness, joints and bones aches, and weight gain. I can just lose a few pounds, but it comes back on as soon as I eat normally. My diet is good as I cannot eat fatty foods. Fats go straight through me, even with the Creon. Sugary foods make me feel weird. I do not drink or smoke. At the moment, I struggle to exercise as I get breathless. My legs ache and feel that I am not getting enough oxygen to my legs. I have high cholesterol of 7, which has come down from 10. I do not take tablets as they made me ill. I also have forgetfulness, migraines, and breathlessness.

Can you help me? Am I taking too much Thyroxine? Should I take T3? Should I take more Metformin? Am I taking too much HRT? Is the thyroid making me have high cholesterol?

I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you.

How to get the glucose and lipid readings back to normal while doing LCHF diet?

Hello doctor,

I am a 54 year old male, and I do not smoke or drink. I am prediabetic and overweight from the past five years. I have started LCHF (low carb high fat) and IF (intermediate fasting) diet for seven weeks. This has given very good results, I was 220 lbs, and now I weigh 198.4 lbs. And my blood pressure is also back to normal. I feel highly energetic. Today, on getting myself tested for blood glucose and lipid profile, I got very strange results. My fasting glucose is 86 mg/dL, postprandial glucose is 152 mg/dL, total cholesterol is 210, triglycerides is 112, HDL is 34, LDL is 175, VLDL is 22.4, total cholesterol/HDL ratio is 6.2. Though these readings look very strange and abnormal, I am feeling very fit and energetic after changing over to LCHF diet and intermediate fasting. How to get the glucose and lipid readings in the normal range while continuing the new diet? I was feeling lazy from the last four years, which was rectified with the new diet and fasting.

What are the treatment options for erectile dysfunction?

Hello doctor,

I am 33 years old. My height is 5.9 feet and weight is 198 lbs. I do not have the habit of smoking, but I drink. Please go through my blood reports. I have been facing erectile dysfunction for the last one year. I have tried Megalis (Tadalafil) and Manforce (Sildenafil citrate). When I am using the medicines, it gives me erection, but leads to anejaculation (no discharge). One of the doctors advised me to get my testosterone checked and when I got it checked it was low. The doctor prescribed me tablet Unidep SR 150 mg, two tablets in the morning and injection Cernos 1 g deep intramuscular. I think my doctor is leading me to a testosterone replacement therapy. Is there any other medicine that I have to try instead of testosterone replacement therapy? I am afraid of testosterone replacement therapy due to its side effects. The doctor has prescribed me Cernos 0.04 oz, which I think is too much after having researched on the internet. I got to know that 400 mg bi-monthly is a good dose. Cernos come in a 0.1 fl oz vial. So, can I take about 0.07 fl oz every fortnightly? Is that a correct calculation for about 400 mg? What does Unidep do and why this was prescribed to me? I heard while taking testosterone my estrogen can increase and it will not resolve my erectile dysfunction. So, how to control that?
