Hi doctor,

I am 25 years old. I am suffering from stomach ache with burping sounds. Sometimes food also comes back into the mouth from the throat. I have pain in the ribs and chest more during the night and early morning. I feel like something is stuck in my chest with feels heavy, and I am unable to sleep. Please help.

Treatment plan

Capsule Deslansoprazole 60 mg one in the morning before breakfast for four weeks, tablet Levosulpiride 25 mg one tablet three times daily before meals for two weeks, syrup Gaviscon 10 ml three times daily after meals for one week and then as per need.

Preventive measures

1. Avoid eating within two hours of going to bed. 2. Take small and frequent meals. 3. Avoid coffee, tea, choclates and carbonated drinks in the evening time. 4. Increase the head end of your bed by five inches. 5. Avoid smoking if any.

Regarding follow up

Get back to me in two weeks.

Will it get cured after using these medicines? Should I need to avoid dals, tamarind, etc.? And I am even suffering from constipation problem.

Yes, I am hopeful that your symptoms will improve with these medications, but it can recur if you stop the lifestyle changes, which I told you. Please avoid spicy foods for a few weeks.

For constipation, take syrup Cremafin 10 ml (antacid) daily at night time. You can decrease or increase its dose depending upon the consistency of your stool.
