Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a painful abdominal feelings lately. The last few days I have had a dull pain on the right side of my belly button a little higher. This morning I woke up to sharp, on and off, needle pains in my upper right abdomen, right below my rib cage. That resolved in half an hour. For the past few hours, I have had sharp shooting pains right under my breastbone. I had never felt the pain before, I do have GERD and a hiatal hernia that is small.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The right side upper abdomen pain has many causes like ulcer up to the hepatobiliary. Kindly follow the following instructions. Go for USG abdomen to rule out any hepatobiliary cause. LFT, stool culture, ESR, serum amylase, lipase to rule out the pancreatic cause. Take tablet Udiliv (Ursodeoxycholic acid) 150 mg postoperatively once daily for 10 days. Stop eating oily foods. Take tablet Pansec D (Pantoprazole and Domperidone) once a day on empty stomach. Get back to me with reports.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

The pain is fully in the middle now. Right underneath the breastbone. It is very localized. And comes and goes. It is a stabbing pain. Then no pain for a while. Then again. Could this be acid?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

If that pain fluctuates with meals after or before or get relieved, then it can be an ulcer. If the pain is radiating back then pancreatitis, if the pain is going to shoulder, then cholecystitis. If pain on palpation, then musculoskeletal. If the pain goes with after taking antacid then maybe an ulcer.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
