Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a continuous dull pain on the right side of my abdomen since yesterday. I had this same pain episode three months ago for the first time, now I am getting it for the third time, and it is pretty severe now. The CBC, ultrasound of the stomach, and LFT were clear when taken. I suspect it to be something related to my reproductive organs. I am a mother of two kids with a history of low platelet counts during pregnancies and PPH after birth accompanied by FFP transfusions. The pain did not subside with medications and was suggested for IBS by a gastroenterologist three months ago. I have taken Losec,Famopsin, Sulvorid, Novidat, and Flagyl medications. After the course, the pain subsided for 15 days. I do not have an idea to whom I should consult now. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The pain on the right side of the abdomen is more suggestive of colic pain due to stones rather than the pain of IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome). Sometimes, stones are easily missed on ultrasound. so I would suggest you get an X-ray KUB (Kidney, Ureter, and Bladder). It will definitely catch the stone. For the time being, I suggest you to take tablet Meftal-spas (Dicyclomine 10 mg and Mefenamic acid 250 mg) and tablet Diclofenac (Diclofenac sodium) for pain. But reaching a correct diagnosis is necessary as pain killers are just a symptomatic treatment. We need to cure the disease from the root cause. Nothing to worry about, you will be fit and fine very soon.

Hope this helps.
