Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

As a teenager with pimples, I am considering using a facial cleanser. Is it safe for me?

Please advise.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. Pimples are somewhat hormonal and often result from oily skin. Here are a few guidelines to follow:

  1. Avoid using hair oil and any sticky creams on your face.
  2. Avoid oily foods, chocolate, and milk products.
  3. Avoid dust and use sunscreen with SPF (sun protection factor) above 30.
  4. Do not rub any creams on your face.
  5. Do not use any steroid creams.
  6. Continue treatment for at least one month.
  7. Face wash or soaps are not treatments and are not very useful.
  8. Do not touch acne and avoid pressing it.

For treatment, you can use Clindamycin gel, which is more preventive and curative. I advise patients to use it all over the face in the morning. Additionally, Adapalene gel should be applied over acne at night, and take one tablet of Doxycycline 100 mg once a day. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope this information is helpful. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
